Science is definetly not my cup of tea. But in the last few years, I have somehow managed to commit myself to teaching several science classes for our homeschooling church kids. These classes have ranged from astronomy to marine biology.
The astronomy course, however, was the most awesome faith builder. Yes, that's right. I never really understood that scripture "The heavens declare the glory of God" until we studied the heavens. Wow...it is so amazing. Of course, this passion and new found love for the stars did not come from a dry, boring curriculum. One of the moms in our school suggested "Lift Up Your Eyes on High" . Boy, was it so enlightening and exciting all at the same time. I supplemented with videos from YouTube and Discovery Education. (Check out Louis Giglio "How Great is Our God" on YouTube if you really want to be encouraged in an astronomy sort of way).
If you are looking for something totally different that will leave you and your high school students with a thorough knowledge of astronomy and a brand new perspective on the glory of God, I highly suggest this curriculum.
And if you have little ones, use Apologia's "Exploring Creation Through Astronomy". I did this with my little girl last year while my high school boys were doing the other curriculum; we all studied together which was an great time-saver for me!
