In class we discussed the theme of Antigone and the motivations of the main characters. Additionally, we discussed "The Hymn to the Aton".

While modern critics tend to relegate the Chorus to the role of mere narrator or commentator, Aristotle argued that the Chorus of a tragedy was to be regarded as integral to the play as if it were one of the characters. Write a well-organized essay in which you argue whether or not the Chorus in Antigone plays an essential role in the tragedy. Avoid plot summary.
