Intro to Lit and Comp Spring, 2014
Welcome! This is going to be a great semester. We will be expanding our knowledge of the elements of fiction and analyzing how authors use those elements in short stories and novels. Additionally, we will be reading and discussing selected poetry. Finally, throughout the semester we will write several types of essays including, but not limited to, expository, narrative, and biographical.
This Week's Homework: April 4 Read "The Human Seasons", "The Song of the Four Winds" and "The Wind and the Rain" (pg.25-26) in your textbook. Hand write a first draft of your symbolism essay. Read over it, checking for mistakes. Correct mistakes and re-write anything you need to clarify. Final draft must be typed (double spaced) or well-written (skip a line). March 28 Symbolism worksheet The Giver test March 21 Compose a "memory transmission" to Jonas. Put this in your spiral notebook. Complete one of the assigned projects. Be creative and put lots of thought, time, and effort into it. Prepare for final test.
